To live in a city is to be its creator. One of many no doubt, unnoticed and unnoticeable within the vast structure of a shared urban space, but a creative contributor to it nonetheless. All too often though that inherent process of creating the city is at odds with the unending collapse of imposed structures that we have to mine our way through. The office block, the new build, the endless process of consolidation to the few and expropriation from the many – we have no choice but to carve something new out of it all. Or to surrender to no city at all, a void where life once was.
